Privacy Policy for Search Amazon by Image – Instant Product Finder

This Privacy Policy explains what information Search Amazon by Image – Instant Product Finder ("the Extension", "we", "us") accesses, how it is used, stored, and shared, and the choices you have.

1. Single purpose

The Extension lets you search for products on Amazon using an image. You choose an image, and the Extension takes you to matching products on Amazon. All data handling described below serves only this purpose.

2. Information we collect and use

Personal data. We do not require an account, and we do not collect your name, email address, payment information, or any other personally identifiable information.

Images and website content. The Extension accesses an image only when you actively choose to search with it, for example by selecting an image on a web page or uploading one. That image, or its web address, is sent to Amazon to run the product search. We do not receive, copy, or store your images on any server of our own. The Extension does not read or collect other content from the pages you visit.

Browsing history. We do not collect, record, or transmit your browsing history.

Settings. Any preferences you set are stored on your device using Chrome's storage (chrome.storage) and are not accessible to us.

Analytics. The Extension does not use analytics, tracking, advertising, or error-reporting tools.

3. Amazon affiliate links

The Extension contains Amazon affiliate links and participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to let sites earn advertising fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites.

As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

• Affiliate links are used only when you take an action in the Extension, such as starting a search or clicking a result. The Extension does not automatically insert, replace, or modify affiliate tags on pages you visit.
• Using these links costs you nothing extra.
• When you use one, you go to Amazon's website. Amazon may collect information such as your IP address, browsing activity, and purchase details under Amazon's Privacy Notice.
• We do not receive your Amazon account information, order history, or payment details. We only see aggregated commission reports from Amazon that do not identify you.

4. Who we share data with

We do not sell your data. The only party that receives information from the Extension is Amazon, which receives the image (or its web address) you choose to search with, along with the affiliate tag, when you start a search or click an affiliate link. We share data with no other third parties.

We may also disclose information if required by law or a valid legal request.

5. Limited Use

The use of information received from Chrome and Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not:

• use or transfer user data for purposes unrelated to the Extension's single purpose;
• use or transfer user data for personalized, retargeted, or interest-based advertising;
• sell user data or transfer it to data brokers or information resellers;
• use or transfer user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes;
• allow humans to read user data, except with your consent, for security purposes, to comply with law, or when the data is aggregated and anonymized for internal operations.

6. Storage, retention, and security

We operate no servers that store your data. Settings are stored locally on your device and remain until you clear them or uninstall the Extension. Images you search with are sent directly to Amazon and are handled under Amazon's policies. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, but the Extension is designed to collect as little data as possible.

7. Your choices and rights

• Uninstall the Extension at any time to stop all data access. Locally stored settings are removed with it.
• Choose what to search. The Extension only acts on images when you select them.
• Contact us to ask questions or make requests about any personal data we may hold. Depending on where you live (for example the EU/UK under GDPR, or California under CCPA), you may have additional rights, and we will honor valid requests.

8. Children's privacy

The Extension is not directed at anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes are posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. If a change materially affects how data is handled, we will also provide notice within the Extension.
